While Ethics and Computation have a long history dating back to Norbert Wiener, Machine Learning has transformed this unlikely couple into a major concern for scientists, regulators, and the general public. But should we trust such an ethical turn? The lecture will respond to this question by offering a heterodox view on algorithms and exploring the ways in which, through their vocabulary, they challenge established interpretative models and invite a new hermeneutics.
Milad Doueihi has held the Chair of Digital Humanism at Paris-Sorbonne, the Chair at the Collège des Bernardins, and the Chair of Research on Digital Cultures at Laval University. Working in and across the fields of philosophy, religion, and digital culture, he has authored numerous books, including A Perverse History of the Human Heart, Earthly Paradise: Myths and Philosophies, Solitude de l'incomparable: Augustin et Spinoza, Digital Cultures, Le Matérialisme numérique, and Pour un humanisme numérique.
