This session explores faculty experience using social annotation tools and promotes the sharing and adoption of new strategies for student learning. Social annotation is reading and thinking together. It brings the age-old process of marking up texts to the digital learning space while encouraging collaborative engagement.

Social annotation can assist students with:

  • processing domain-specific knowledge
  • supporting argumentation and inquiry
  • improving literacy skills

Goals of What works?

What Works? is a chance for instructors to explore social annotation tools and practices that have been in use by their peers at Cornell. Ways to effectively implement Hypothesis or Perusall into various disciplines and class sizes will be discussed. Instructors will leave with ideas and inspiration for how social annotation can reinforce learning in their own courses.

Who can attend?

All Cornell instructors and teaching assistants are welcome.
