Vladimir Nabokov: Letters, Drawings, and First Editions
Thursday, October 31, 2024 11am to 3pm
About this Event
Visit a pop-up exhibition of Vladimir Nabokov’s original letters, manuscripts, and first editions containing his drawings of butterflies. Drawn from Cornell University Library’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, these unique materials about Nabokov’s life and work are displayed in support of the International Vladimir Nabokov Society’s 2024 conference “Vladimir Nabokov, or Education Without Borders,” hosted in collaboration with Cornell’s French Studies Program and the French Vladimir Nabokov Society.
Vladimir Nabokov lived in Ithaca and taught at Cornell from July 1948 to February 1959, during which time he completed his celebrated novels Lolita and Pnin along with other works. Scarce and unique documents in the library’s collections shed light on his teaching at Cornell and his work as a novelist, poet, and translator.
Open hours for this pop-up exhibit are 11am to 3pm.
