About this Event
Interested in learning more about foraging for wild mushrooms? As we prepare for the upcoming foraging season, CCE Broome Nature Educator Cam will review introductory skills related to foraging for wild mushrooms including a review of fungi terminology and identification characteristics, sustainable foraging practices, common tools used in the field, and a brief summary of local wild spaces with good foraging opportunities and highlighting common choice species in our area.
This class is geared towards adult community members who have an interest in learning more about foraging for wild fungi species and will include some complex jargon and terminology. All terms will be explained as needed, but participants should be comfortable with being introduced to scientific lingo and concepts as they relate to foraging. As a reminder, this class is strictly informational and is not a foraging certification course. You should never eat wild edible species unless you are 100% confident in its ID or are with someone who is! At the end of the program, Cam will review some options for "next steps" for those who wish to further their skills beyond the scope of this introductory class.
This class is free of charge and registration is required.
