This exhibit showcases the beginning of of the half scale form used here at Cornell. Created by Professor Emeritus Professor Susan Ashdown, these forms have helped students explore different body types, create zero waste garments through patterning and fit using less material, and continue studio work during the pandemic due to the smaller scale and portability of the dress forms. The forms have been used both in research and in the classroom. While the material the forms are made of has changed over the years, the creativity they bring has not. Come try your hand at draping on a half scale form or try to assemble a foam form
This exhibition was funded by a grant from the Cornell Council for the Arts
