"Trumpism in American Foreign Policy"

Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 4:30am to 6:00am

Goldwin Smith Hall, G76 Lewis Auditorium
232 East Ave, Central Campus

The Phi Beta Kappa Society is excited to announce its Fall 2019 distinguished lecture, "Trumpism in American Foreign Policy," by the Cornell Walter S. Carpenter, Jr. Professor of International Studies, Peter Katzenstein.
Abstract: Trumpism is not the same as Trump. America contains multiple traditions typically named after some of its famous presidents including Madison, Jefferson, Wilson and Jackson. Rarely does the good of any one tradition appear without a dose of the bad of another. And vice-versa. Focusing excessively on the flaws of President Trump implies that voting him out of office will return America to its normal and better self. Not so. Trumpism is part of America.
