This exhibition will be open through Sunday, January 2. Please check the calendar for special holiday hours!

This exhibition examines trees in art--both as muse for artists inspired by the beauty and variety of trees in the natural environment, and as a means for representing human history, abstract concepts, and scientific knowledge. Featuring a wide range of works, from fifteenth-century woodcuts to contemporary photography, on themes as diverse as evolution, environmental subjects, and family trees, the exhibition even maps projected changes in the distribution of trees, such as the Giant Sequoia in light of global climate change. This exhibition was organized by Stephen Goddard, senior curator of prints and drawings at the Spencer Museum of Art, The University of Kansas, Lawrence.
