DESCRIPTION:Threads: Sustaining India’s Textile Traditions features four
Indian designers and their collaborations with traditional textiles artisa
ns that produce fashion collections for a contemporary market. Through in-
depth interviews and visually stunning footage\, this film demonstrates ho
w these committed\, creative collaborations innovate traditional textile t
echniques and reinvigorate the communities who produce them.\n\nThe Nixon
Seminar Series in the Department of Human Centered Design was established
through a generous gift by John W. and Lea P. Nixon\, Class of 1953. Desig
ned to provide students with exposure to leading scholars and industry pro
fessionals\, the Seminar Series is an expansion of the Nixon Distinguished
Speaker Series and builds upon Mr. and Mrs. Nixon’s shared vision of cr
eating a more engaged community on campus and providing a bridge to profes
 sional knowledge and opportunities.
