Resource conservation and recycling are an important part in a circular economy. Although significant progress has been made in textile recycling, the current rate of recycling is still quite low. While it is important to carry out R&D activities on individual recycling technologies, it is important to address the issue of textile recycling in a circular economy with a goal to significantly increase the the rate of recycling. This talk provides some examples of current recycling technologies, and discusses some needs, challenges and directions in order to recycle, say, more than 50% of textile waste.
