Cornell University

Join the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs as we welcome, Rep. Adam Schiff, Rep. Peter Welch, Former Rep. Zach Wamp and Former Amb. Tim Roemer. This event will help kick off the new Campaign for the Future of Democracy (CFD) from the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs at Cornell University. The Campaign for the Future of Democracy (CFD) will have four unique missions:

RESEARCH: Conduct sophisticated and original research (polling, focus groups, demographic analysis) across the country to clarify and understand why public attitudes have soured on democratic norms and values.
DEMOCRATIC LITERACY: Convene top Republican and Democratic political experts in a bipartisan partnership to build public advocacy campaigns designed to support democratic norms and institutions; and build public resilience against foreign and domestic intrusion.
DEMOCRACY DIALOGUES: Bridge the divide between political practitioners and scholarship by convening dialogues with leading elected officials to a) assess democratic norms and b) operationalize projects to strengthen it.
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: Cultivate the next generation of public servants with the skills necessary to sustain democracy.
Through a series of dialogues like this, we will engage public officials and scholars in discussions about the erosion of democratic norms in the United States and around the world. All events are open to current members of the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs and the Cornell community. Non-Members may be considered based on availability.

The Institute of Politics and Global Affairs is a non-partisan institute dedicated to elevating public discourse and stimulating civic engagement.

This was superb! The participants, their experience and insights were timely and valuable. Cong Israel's convening of this panel particularly given the challenges to our country is most appreciated!
