The History Center and Africana Library Sponsor Spring Book Group on "The Abolitionists and Their Legacy".

This spring an impressive panel of scholars and professionals will facilitate a book group, co-sponsored by the History Center and the John Henrik Clarke Africana Library at Cornell University. Participating as facilitators are Eldred Harris, J.D., Manager, Diaspora Gallery; Eric Kofi Acree, Director, Africana Library, Cornell University; and Margaret Washington, Professor of history and American studies at Cornell University.

The series will feature three meetings from March to May on movements to end slavery and racism. Dates, book titles and facilitators for the series are:

March 22: Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation - facilitated by Eldred Harris
April 12: A Free Man of Color: the Autobiography of Willis Augustus Hodges - facilitated by Margaret Washington
May 10: The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Color Blindness - facilitated by Eric Acree

Meetings, which will be held at the History Center and Diaspora Gallery, begin at 5:30 p.m. and last approximately 90 minutes. Space is limited to 15 participants.
