https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/springherbs_245Want to warm up and help fight off the colds this winter season? Come join us for our Winter Soup Workshop!
Winter is a perfect time to enjoy hot, hearty soups at mealtimes. Homemade soup is highly nutritious and cost effective. In this workshop, learn how to make bone broth based soups and vegetable-based soups from scratch. We will also talk about making soup in a slow cooker, pressure cooker, or stock pot. Participants will also learn tips on how to safely can or freeze soups and broth for later enjoyment.
This workshop will be led by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County’s Nutrition Issue Leader and Master Food Preserver, Mo Tidball, along with Nutrition Educator Candace Riegel. These experts, with their vast knowledge, will show you tricks, techniques, and safe procedures to make a robust chicken soup from left-over rotisserie chicken bones, how to make beef or venison bone broth, and also how to make a purely vegetable based soup. Nutrition information will also be provided.
Participants will be served a bowl or two of soup and will go home with recipes and materials to confidently cook soup at home, along with the knowledge of how to safely preserve the leftovers. The workshop will be held at the Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension office on the third floor of the Main Street Shop Center in Waterloo, NY on Wednesday, February 6th from 6:30 PM to 7:30PM. The cost is $15.
