Society for the Humanities Presents: Holly Hughes

Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 4:30pm

A. D. White House, Guerlac Room
29 East Ave, Ithaca, NY 14850, USA

"A Sapphic Sampler Platter": Holly Hughes’s “new and improved” autobiographical performances have centered queer feminist experience thru a patented blend of satire, poetry, and ribald humor.  Her dog and pony show – please bring your OWN pony – teaches the entire family how to put the cunt back in country.  Not a dry seat in the house or your money back.

Holly Hughes, Professor of Theatre & Drama, University of Michigan, is an internationally acclaimed performance artist whose work maps the troubled fault lines of identity. Her combination of poetic imagery and political satire has earned her wide attention and placed her work at the center of America’s culture wars.
