About this Event
Olin Library, Ithaca, NY 14850, USA
Since photography began in 1839, dogs have been a popular subject for professional and amateur photographers alike. The long exposure times required for early photographic processes made it difficult to capture images of animals who naturally wanted to move. As a result, most early photographs of dogs depict them alongside owners who could help keep them stationary for the camera.
This exhibition features photographs of dogs alone, without human companions or even leashes to hold them still, revealing individual dogs as unique personalities. Here dogs are the stars of the show.
