This popular annual field day will share the latest research, technology and experiences to help land managers cope with today’s challenges of sustaining world-class hardwood forest resources. Topics covered by experts from Cornell University, Cornell Cooperative Extension, SUNY ESF, and forest industry include:
- Forest health and monitoring, including applications for novel technologies like terrestrial lidar and drones
- The benefits of deer exclusion through slash walls (www.slashwall.info) and initial experiences with overstory removal harvests in successfully regenerated stands
- Assessing carbon benefits of forest management systems and actions through Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
All are welcome to attend. Cost is $25. Please register by 9/23. Participants should expect to walk up to one mile in forest conditions. Please dress for the weather, and bring lunch and water! This event has been approved for 6.5 Cat 1 CFE credits by the Society of American Foresters, and 3.25 pesticide credits by the NYS DEC (1.75 Cat 2; 0.5 Cat 3a; 1.0 Cat 9).
