Vidwan Sikkil Gurucharan, a fourth generation musician and a first generation vocalist, is the grandson of legendary flutist duo, the Sikkil Sisters, and a disciple of Vaigal S. Gnana Skandan and Vidwan B Krishnamurthy. He also has to his credit a prestigious Fulbright-Nehru scholarship with which he taught at the University of California, Davis and did research. He is one of the youngest influential Carnatic musicians today.

The magazine India Today featured him among 35 Game Changers Under (the age of) 35 in India, a list of young achievers from different walks of life. Gurucharan has worked on an album with John McLaughlin, Mandolin Srinivas, Louis Banks called "Miles from India" which was nominated for the Best Contemporary Jazz Album at the 51st Grammy Awards.
