The Department of Linguistics and ASL Program proudly presents Lucia Gomez ('21, CS & Linguistics) to present "Sign Lines: Visualizing ASL with Machine-Made Watercolor Paintings".
Experience a machine that turns American Sign Language gestures into watercolor paintings. Participants are invited to interact with the machine, take home their unique painting, and stay for a brief presentation on the technology and theory behind the work. Stop by to see the intersection of language, art, and technology in action. Demo 5-6pm, presentation 6-7pm..
Lucia Gomez ('21, CS & Linguistics) is a Creative Technologist who works at the intersection of digital and physical interactive experiences. She is currently finishing her Master's degree at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. During her time at Cornell, she was President of ASL @ Cornell and helped advocate for the university to establish an ASL course sequence.
Will be presented in Spoken English. ASL/English interpretation will be provided.
