#cornellbotanicgardensPlants seem like such an innocent, natural part of life. We eat different crops, we give flowers to our loved ones, and we all doodle them on the margins of our notebooks. However, plants show up in our everyday lives in ways that aren’t as obvious.
“Seeds of Solidarity,” by Cornell Botanic Gardens education team member, Jakara Zellner, looks beyond the surface and into the complex sociopolitical relationships we have with plants, starting with plants from the “Seeds of Survival and Celebration” exhibition.
Through a blend of graphic illustrations, collages, and poetic prose, “Seeds of Solidarity” explores how environmental degradation is directly linked to the socioeconomic, physical, and cultural harm to marginalized communities. View this collection at Nevin Welcome Center. View hours here.
