2016 Science Days will be held at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County, 121 Second St., Oriskany, NY on April 25th, 26th and 27th from 9am to 3pm each day. The cost is $20 per a day for 4-H members and $25 per a day for non-4H members. If you register for all three days you will save $5.00. You may register for 1 day or all 3 days.
April 25th NYS Wildlife– Get up close with some native creatures courtesy of the Utica Zoo Mobile. Meet with local DEC Officers to learn about our local habitat and why our ecosystems can support such a wide variety plants and animals. Biologist, Andy Weik, from the Ruffled Grouse Society will explain how solar technology is helping track the migration of the American Woodcock Lunch: Pizza and salad
April 26th Food Science and Gone Fishing-Susan Sady of Susan's Cooking School will teach kids how to make stuffed shells. Then “Spend time exploring the lake ecosystem found right at Sylvan Beach! We will look at actual organisms and their predators (fish), see how invasive species can impact a food web (game), and look at the “dinosaurs” that live in Oneida Lake (video) JoAnne Getchonis, Cornell Biological Field Station Lunch: Stuffed shells and salad
April 27th Coral Reef- Spend the day learning about the plants, animals and fish that live in this remarkable underwater eco system. Design a miniature submersible submarine. Learn about invasive species and what other things are threatening the coral reef. All three days are packed with fun educational activities. Lunch and a healthy snack will be provided each day.
Many of the activities scheduled will require patience from the participant. We welcome any parent that would like to stay and lend a helping hand.
