Sarah Bay-Cheng is Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Theatre at the University at Buffalo. She is the Founding Director for the Techne Institute for Arts and Emerging Technologies, which fosters the intersection of art and sciences through competitive funding, international artist residencies, and educational outreach. Her books include Mapping Intermediality in Performance; Poets at Play; Mama Dada: Gertrude Stein's Avant-Garde Theater; the forthcoming book and website project Taxonomies: Media x Performance; and she co-edits the book series Avant-Gardes in Performance with Palgrave. In 2005, Bay-Cheng co-founded the Intermedia Performance Studio at UB--an experimental performance collaboration integrating virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and live performance.
