CIAMS will be hosting a reception to mark the opening of Sacred Ground: Excavating Black History at Ithaca’s Freedom Church. The exhibit will showcase the four seasons of archaeological research at St. James, including the collaboration between our students, faculty, and the St. James congregation. Rev. King will be present and refreshments will be provided. 

This event is the result of a collaboration between the Cornell Institute of Archaeological and Material Studies (CIAMS), the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, and The History Center in Tompkins County.
