Nel de Mûelenaere is a historian of 19th and 20th century Europe interested in the (inter)national politics of everyday life. Her current project at Cornell University traces the steps of two American female professors who came to Belgium in the early 1920s to study and improve women's education and children's nutrition, Flora Rose and Martha Van Rensselaer. Nel uses microhistory to shed light on the gendered practices of US philanthropic organizations. Sign-up required.
