Rose House - Rose Cafe: Overcoming Polarization in American Democracy
Wednesday, October 30, 2019 7pm to 8:30pm
About this Event
134 Gothics Way, Ithaca, NY 14853, USA
American democracy has become increasingly polarized in recent decades, with the electorate split into rival camps that are sharply divided in their partisan, ideological, and cultural identities. While the causes of this polarization are complex and deeply rooted in contemporary American society, they are not irreversible. We will discuss different ways of countering this polarization, or at least minimizing its more destructive consequences, in an effort to help students engage effectively in the democratic arena. Sign-up required!
