Veretski Pass, in collaboration with Joel Rubin, are proud to present The Magid Chronicles. Their repertoire draws from the work of Sofia Magid, the Jewish ethnographer who documented Jewish music in Belarus and Ukraine during Stalin’s regime in the 1920s and 30s, and Moyshe Beregovski, Magid’s Kiev counterpart. Sometimes raucous, sometimes meditative, the project–– consisting of new compositions, arrangements, and improvisations––is a true melding of past, present and future. Students are invited to bring an instrument and join in!
