DESCRIPTION:While development seems continually to be in a state of crisis\
 , now that state is heightened. Reshuffling of global powers\, climate and
  biodiversity crises\, and technological and military crisis are upending 
 development institutions. Moments of crisis are moments of renewal. For 25
  years\, the Polson Institute for Global Development has supported critica
 l and innovative work by researchers and practitioners to address challeng
 es in development. In this conference we will build on this legacy by brin
 ging development practitioners\, activists\, policymakers\, and researcher
 s together to ask how development will be renewed. We will address five em
 erging themes: New terrains of geopolitics and governance\; Rights\, needs
 \, and capabilities\; Digital transformations\; Plundering and nurturing e
 nvironments\; and Real alternatives. Keynote panels will be broadcast for 
 remote participants\; in-person participants will take part in break-out s
 essions and plenary discussions. Online sessions of research papers and ac
 tion pitches will include local and remote participants. Through conversat
 ions grounded in practical engagement and critical analysis\, we will set 
 a new vision for development.
