Reimagining Retirement Series: Holistic Cognitive Health
“Reimagining Retirement: Holistic Cognitive Health” is a three-part virtual learning series hosted by the Association of Retiree Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE) and Fidelity Investments. This series explores the social, psychological, and emotional aspects of transitioning to and living in retirement.
The sessions take a comprehensive approach to cognitive well-being in retirement, covering topics from the science of memory to strategies for navigating transitional phases. Each session aims to provide valuable insights for maintaining cognitive health.
The series will conclude with a panel of retirees sharing personal stories and tips on managing cognitive wellness and fostering a supportive and informed community around aging. This program is geared toward faculty and staff in higher education who are considering retirement or are already retired. It is designed to help attendees clarify their goals and understand the changes during this new chapter in life.

Ayn Welleford, Associate Professor Department of Gerontology, Virginia Commonwealth University and Katie Gilstrap, Associate Professor, School of Business, Virginia Commonwealth University, offer complementary perspectives to help retired faculty and staff embrace this pivotal stage confidently and purposefully.
- Personal Stories: Tips from Retirees on Managing Cognitive Health – Tuesday, March 25, 2025, 1:00 PM. Join moderator Dr. Gigi Amateau, Assistant Professor in the Department of Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University, and a panel of AROHE members as they share practical tips and lived experiences on navigating cognitive health in later life.
