Region 1 ReLeaf Tree Ordinance Webinar

Virtual Webinar
Thursday, September 15, 2022
10:00am to 11:30am

On September 15th, join the Region 1 ReLeaf Committee for an informative webinar on Tree Ordinances presented by Matthew Viglucci, Environmental Education Assistant in the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Urban and Community Forestry Department. Attendees will learn about the benefits of having a community tree ordinance with two short presentations from two distinct Long Island communities that will share their “ordinances in action” and discuss the challenges and triumphs of their tree ordinances within their community.

During this webinar, we will cover the importance of a tree ordinance, the content they may contain, and what steps may be taken in order to pass a new tree ordinance or update an existing community tree ordinance. During the second half of this webinar, attendees will get a chance to hear from communities that already have a tree ordinance in place and hear their experience instituting and orchestrating an update or implementation of a tree ordinance and the challenges and triumphs related to their Tree Ordinance.
