Rayna Kalas, Associate Professor in Literatures in English at Cornell University, will present "Milton’s Constitutionalism, or Media Theory and the Body Politic” at the Cornell Political Theory Workshop. Papers are circulated on an email list in advance and participants come prepared to discuss them.

The focus of Dr. Kalas’s research is 16th- and 17th-century literature, poetics, and the history and theory of writing. Her first book, Frame, Glass, Verse: The Technology of Poetic Invention in the English Renaissance (2007) is a study of the techne or craft of poetry in the late-16th and early-17th centuries, when many poets understood their work to be a framing or tempering of matter.
