Open House - Raised Bed Vegetable Variety Trial and High Tunnel

6:30 pm Thursday August 21st

CCE Wyoming County, 36 Center Street, Warsaw

The VVT project is made possible by the Cornell Garden Based Learning Program. County Extension offices spread throughout New York are using the raised garden bed project as an educational tool to trial some unique crop varieties. This year’s theme, Cultural Roots of the African Diaspora, includes collard greens, eggplant, okra, tomato, beans, watermelon, winter squash, and herbs. The 10 3’x3’ raised beds are starting to produce an abundance of produce and we would like to share the project with the community.

Topics covered:

  • Project overview

  • Raised bed basics

  • Lessons learned- What has worked and what has not

  • Considerations for each crop

  • Unique recipes will be highlighted in dishes for participants to sample at the event

  • Tour and discussion of the CCE learning high tunnel.
