Dunifon, Professor of Policy Analysis and Management and Interim Dean in the College of Human Ecology, will present her new book You’ve Always Been There for Me: Understanding the Lives of Children Raised by Grandparents (Rutgers University Press, August 17, 2018) in which she examines this understudied family type in which almost two million American children are being raised. Dunifon uses data gathered from grandfamilies in New York to analyze both their unique strengths and distinct challenges, from financial and health issues to a lack of recognition from social services, and offers researchers, service providers, policy makers and the general public insight on how to best promote their well-being.
