In conjunction with the Literary Theory on the Edge course I am most pleased to announce the visit and public lecture by Professor Eva Horn of the University of Vienna this Thursday, March 7th at 4:30 in the Guerlac Room of the A.D. White House.  A renowned scholar of modern literatures, political theory and media theory, Horn is the author of The Secret War: Treason, Espionage and Modern Fiction (Northwestern UP) and The Future as Catastrophe: Imagining Disaster in the Modern Age (Columbia UP).  Her upcoming book is on The Cultural Theory of Climate.
Professor Horn’s lecture this Thursday is titled, “An Aesthetics of the Anthropocene.”
The event is co-sponsored by the departments of English, Comparative Literature, German Studies, Romance Studies, the Institute for German Cultural Studies (IGCS), the Cornell Institute for European Studies (CIES) and the Society for the Humanities.
