Cornell University

This two-day strength-based training will enhance your leadership skills and help prepare professionals to use and reinforce the five communication skills -- Encouragement, Can-Do, Shared Decision Making, Self-Control, and Respecting Feelings -- in their work with clients and in their daily lives.

The 'PS: It Works!' curriculum was designed for parenting educators but the material is applicable to a wide range of "people-centered" professions and situations. Past participants have included DSS personnel, social workers, teachers, child care providers, mental health professionals, alcohol & drug rehab counselors, human service workers, counselors, coaches and "people working with people"!

Contact Hours:

Training carries New York State MSW/LCSW contact hours [through co-sponsor Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca]  Participants also will be qualified to conduct or make referrals to the Parenting Skills Workshop Series, and conduct the Parenting Skills for Literacy Series.

Registration details and fees will follow as the date nears.

For more information about the training, see CCE-Tompkins’ Parenting Skills Facilitator Training page for a full course description, and Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology for the PSWS workshop Evaluation Tool and Evaluation Report
