Cornell University

This year during the Erie County Fair Livestock Market Auctions we will be selling pies and cookies made by 4-H members to benefit the 4-H program.

Do you want to learn how to make a pie? Or learn the science behind making the perfect cookie?  Perhaps brush up on pie making skills?  Want to exhibit a fresh pie at the fair?  Exhibit cookies at the fair?  Join us as we learn together!

You must be a currently enrolled Erie County 4-H Member.  You may not have participated in Pie Making or Cookie Making to benefit the 4-H Program for the previous years.

This program will be a 3 step opportunity:

Step 1—Attend an educational workshop.

Pie Workshop - May 29 from 6:30-8:30 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 53 West Falls Road, West Falls, NY  14170.  You will learn about the history of pie making, food safety, fruit preparation, crust preparation and the “how to” by making your own personal mini pie, and will take your personal pie home to bake.  This workshop will be presented by Christine Basile.

Cookie Workshop - Tuesday, June 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Power House, 39, S. Grove Street, East Aurora, NY  14052.  Participants will learn about the science behind making the perfect cookie from Chris Basile.  Participants will take the cookie dough home to bake.

Step 2—Participate in the actual pie or cookie making for items being sold at the fair in July.

Step 3 - Partipate in the auction at the fair on August 9 or 16, 2025

Please note: 1 parent/adult must accompany youth during both sessions
