PhD Project Information Session

Monday, September 17, 2018 at 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Alice Statler Auditorium
7 East Ave, Ithaca, NY 14850, USA

On behalf of Todd Schmit, Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion in the SC Johnson College of Business, we would like to cordially invite you to the first PhD Project Information Session. It will take place on Monday, September 17th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

The PhD Project (https://www.phdproject.org/) is dedicated to increasing diversity in the workplace by increasing the diversity of business school faculty who encourage, mentor, support, and enhance the preparation of tomorrow’s leaders.  Their approach is to attract and inform potential minority doctoral students about a career as a business school professor in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing. They encourage such individuals to attend their annual conference in November (by application only), connect them with Universities offering PhD programs in these areas, and provide support to members throughout their programs.

As a college-level sponsor of the PhD Project, the Information Session on campus is an opportunity for current students at Cornell (upper level undergraduates, MBAs, and masters level students) to learn more about the PhD Project and to consider a PhD for their future. Recent graduates/alums in these program areas are also encouraged to attend. Finally, we invite current PhD students at Cornell in these program areas to attend the Information Session and network with those considering going on for their PhD.

Please feel free to spread the word widely; however, we ask that you RSVP here so that we can plan accordingly. Open remarks will be followed by a panel discussion of recent PhD Project participants and a networking reception.  Representatives from the SC Johnson College of Business Office of Diversity & Inclusion and the School Diversity & Inclusion Offices in the Dyson School of Applied Economics & Management, the School of Hotel Administration, and the Johnson Graduate School of Management will also be on hand.

We hope to see you there!
