Join us for an in-depth session with Randall Cass from Cornell University as we explore the impacts of pesticides on pollinators. This talk will dig into the latest research and science surrounding honey bee health and pesticide exposure. Topics will include:

  • What do we know about the impacts of pesticides on pollinators?

  • What steps do regulatory agencies like the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) take to safeguard our pollinators?

  • Are protections from the EPA adequate or inadequate?

  • An examination of various public-facing narratives regarding pesticide use.

  • An analysis of the effectiveness and motivations behind these communication strategies.

  • Discussion on how public engagement can support the development of evidence-based legislation.

Randall Cass manages the NYS Beekeeper Tech Team, supports honeybee research, and is an extension resource for beekeepers throughout the state. Previously Randall served as a bee extension specialist at Iowa State University overseeing research, teaching classes, and providing extension to beekeepers in the Midwest.
