DESCRIPTION:MAY 7\, 10 AM - 12 PM: ILR Conference Center 423\n\nThis roundt
 able convenes four scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to explor
 e the One Health paradigm. One Health emphasizes the interconnectedness of 
 human\, animal\, and ecosystem health. Through an interdisciplinary dialogu
 e\, panelists will discuss how their respective fields shape their understa
 ndings of One Health\, examining the complexities of virus emergence\, path
 ogen transmission\, and health governance.\n\n \n\nThe conversation will en
 gage with the challenges of implementing One Health across local\, regional
 \, and global scales\, considering how equitable decision-making can be ens
 ured within large-scale policymaking. Panelists will also reflect on the ro
 le of social science perspectives in advancing One Health approaches\, part
 icularly in the context of pandemic preparedness and response.\n\n \n\nThe 
 Speakers\n\nAlexander J. Travis is an expert in wildlife health and conserv
 ation and serves as the Chair for the Department of Public & Ecosystem Heal
 th and the Director of Cornell Public Health. His work focuses on the inter
 sections and wellbeing of people\, animals\, and the environment.Alex Nadin
 g is an Associate Professor at Cornell's Department of Anthropology and is 
 a medical and environmental anthropologist. His research examines transnati
 onal campaigns against dengue fever\, bacterial disease\, and chronic kidne
 y disease\, as well as grassroots movements to address these issues.Raina P
 lowright is the Rudolf J. and Katharine L. Steffen Professor at Cornell Uni
 versity where she also serves as a Cornell Atkinson Scholar at the Cornell 
 Atkinson Center for Sustainability. Her research aims to unravel the biolog
 ical mechanisms underpinning spillover events to inform prevention strategi
 es.Juno Salazar Parreñas is Associate Professor of Science and Technology S
 tudies and Feminist\, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Cornell University. S
 he examines human-animal relations\, environmental issues\, and efforts to 
 institutionalize justice.\n Following the speakers' opening statements\, th
 ere will be ample time for audience questions and comments. This roundtable
  will be a unique opportunity for a dynamic\, transdisciplinary exchange of
  ideas on the future of global and planetary health governance and the One 
 Health framework.\n\n \n\nThis roundtable forms part of a wider Cornell-bas
 ed conference (May 5-7) on The Biopolitics of Global Health After Covid-19.
