Join the Organization of Cornell Planners (OCP) and Cornell AAP in celebrating Park(ing) Day on Friday, September 21, as our community comes together to transform parking spaces into green "parklets" that are so desperately needed in many of our cities!

Park(ing) Day is an event in which artists, citizens, and businesses temporarily transform parking spaces into public spaces. Park(ing) Day's mission is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, generate discussion and debate around how public space is utilized, and improve the quality of urban habitat. Park(ing) Day was first conceived of in 2005, when urban designer and landscape architect John Bela converted a parking space into a small park in San Francisco creating the opportunity for community engagement to occur. Since then, more and more cities all over the world have participated in Park(ing) Day every year.

OCP will be transforming some parking spaces in the Sibley Hall parking lot into several stations including:

Small sitting garden
Camp-out set up and bike repair lessons
Yoga sessions
