Invasive Hemlock Wooley Adelgid

Camille Caceci from the Finger Lakes PRISM (Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges will speak on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County's Auditorium (840 Front Street Binghamton, NY, 13905) on the subject of Hemlock Wooly Adelgid (HWA). Doors will open at 6:30 PM with the presentation starting at 7 PM.  A virtual option will also be available via Zoom; a link will be sent out to registered participants prior to the event. 

From FL PRISM: "HWA poses a significant threat to the health and abundance of New York's hemlock trees because it feeds by sucking sap from hemlock trees. PRISM is asking volunteers to assist with the detection and reporting of infestations.  This presentation will guide volunteers through the identification of HWA, where to locate it, and how to report it. This event would serve as an opportunity to help protect the hemlocks in our area and map the extent of local HWA infestations."

This event is presented in partnership with the Southern Tier New York Forest Owners Association (NYFOA). Admission is free of charge. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
