New York State Veterans Office Hours (Every Wednesday)

Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 9:30am to 3:30pm

Humphreys Service Building, Room 127a 639 Dryden Road

John Canestaro, from the New York State Veterans Office, is here to help military veterans at Cornell and in the Tompkins County community with their state and federal benefits.  He will be on campus every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Room 127a, Humphreys Service Building (Door 5), 639 Dryden Road, Ithaca.

Visitor parking permits are available at the Customer Service Center (Door 2) and there is accessible parking. Humphreys is within a 20-minute walk from central campus and on multiple TCAT bus routes (see interactive map). Appointments can be made by calling 607-255-8719 or emailing

Canestaro will provide the following services to the campus and local veteran community:

  • Assist, counsel, and advocate for veterans, members of the armed services and their families and survivors regarding federal and state veterans’ benefits;
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of claims;
  • Help veterans obtain veterans’ educational benefits.

The return of the NYS Veterans Office to campus supports the mission of the university’s Veterans Colleague Network Group to raise the awareness of veteran issues at Cornell; provide a forum for veterans who served during combat or peacetime – and their supporters – to discuss topics of mutual interest and concern; and support the university’s recruitment and retention of veterans.
