New Research on Aging Lives: An Opportunity to Promote Social Change
Thursday, October 19, 2017 10:30am to 11:30am
About this Event
The field of gerontology has grown in importance along with the aging of world populations. Aging of populations has been accompanied by increasing good health reported by older adults, although there is an increase in chronic disease. Negative stereotypes about aging, however, continue to dominate social discourse about the impacts of population aging, and evidence has emerged that negative stereotypes have the potential to harm aging adults. Prof. Wethington will discuss research projects conducted in the Cornell Edward R. Roybal Center that are relevant to promoting a more positive view of aging, and getting the word out more broadly.
(come anytime after 10am for refreshments)
