New Narratives in Fashion presents the impact or complexities that global narratives and global culture are having (and have had) in shaping fashion design today, and of course the industry. It begins with laying out postmodern fashion, beginning with the leftovers from Punk aesthetics, a mash up or total disregard for linear history, conventional forms. (Notable in the work of Vivienne Westwood, later in John Galliano, McQueen, etc. and the Japanese designers, then furthered along by the Belgian designers, etc).
