Cloud computing has many appealing properties for researchers who need to compute with a wide range of capabilities and intensities. Which researchers will benefit from moving some or all of their compute workflow to the cloud? What do researchers need to know and what help do they need? How can cyberinfrastructure specialists aid the transition? We will evaluate the capabilities of cloud computing for researchers, and explore how research can be moved to the cloud with the least disruption to get the quickest gains.
