DESCRIPTION:Maurizio Savini was born in Rome\, where he studied history of 
 art at the Sapienza University of Rome. He has been an active artist since
  the 90s. His first exhibition took place in Dusseldorf. The same year\, h
 e was responsible for the stage setting for the lyric opera Parsifal by R.
  Wagner\, directed by Peter Stein\, music direction by Claudio Abbado with
  the Berliner Philarmoniker in Salzburg and at the International Festival 
 of Edinburg. In 2002\, he worked on the setting for the ballet la fin du j
 our\, which was performed in theaters in Bologna and Florence.\n\nSavini h
 as had solo exhibitions internationally in Paris\, London\, Amsterdam\, Be
 rlin\, and New York City. In 2008\, he presented an exhibition at the Muse
 um of Saint Etienne and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lyon\, France. H
 e was a participant in the Quadriennale D’Arte di Roma with a new series
  of sculptures. He has actively taken part in cultural projects including 
 the realization of pediatric hospitals in Paris and Vladikavkaz\, Russia. 
 In 2009\, he created permanent sculptures for the Museum for Contemporary 
 Art of Rome and the Luiss University in Rome. In 2011\, he was invited to 
 participate in the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Art in the s
 pecial category sponsored by Fondazione Roma. In the same year\, he had a 
 solo exhibition at Ermanno Tedeschi Gallery in Turin\, Italy. In 2012\, he
  produced the performance Domestic Forest in Castello di Rivara. In 2016\,
  he had a solo exhibition titled Forbidden World at Partners and Mucciacci
 a gallery in Singapore.\n\nAbstract:\nThis talk will include a presentatio
 n of the artist's work followed by a discussion of the use of materials in
  contemporary art and new perspectives in the use of museum spaces dedicat
 ed to contemporary art.
