Professor Gavin Arnall, Associate Professor in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan, will be speaking on “Marxism and Indigenous Radicalisms: The Missed Encounter and the United Front” in the Romance Studies Lounge (Klarman 164). Professor Arnall is a rising name in the field of scholarly work on Latin American Marxisms. His first book, Subterranean Fanon : An Underground Theory of Radical Change (Columbia University Press, 2020) was selected as an Editor’s Pick for the journal Europe Now and was the focus of events sponsored by the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute. He is co-editor of two forthcoming volumes: Translation and Universality: Sites of Struggle and Between Revolution and Democracy: José Aricó, Marxism, and Latin America. Professor Arnall also serves as director of the collaborative Marxism Lab based at the University of Michigan.
