Marcio Kogan founded Studio mk27 in the early 80s, in Brazil. The firm has since grown to include 23 architects and collaborators around the world. The projects by Studio mk27 are often valued for their formal simplicity and attention to the details and finishing elements. Kogan and his team are admirers of the Brazilian modernist generation and look to continue in their tradition. The studio has won numerous international awards including Wallpaper Design Awards, Record House, Interior Record, D&AD, LEAF Awards, Dedalo Minosse, Barbara Cappochin of the International Biennial of Padova, Spark Awards, and World Architecture Festival. In 2011 Wallpaper and Epoca considered Kogan one of the 100 most influential people; that same year he received the title of honorary member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In 2012 Kogan represented Brazil in the Venice Biennial of Architecture. In Brazil, Kogan has received 13 awards from the Instituto de Arquitetos do Brasil (IAB).
