Mann Library, 2nd floor
Cornell University Mann Library, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853, USA
The Magic of Mushroom, taught by professor Kathie Hodge in the Section of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology at Cornell, is not your typical biology class—it’s more like a double-decker bus tour of the Kingdom of Fungi. Stories of weird and world-sustaining mushrooms are told, homage is paid to the noble works of yeasts, and humid thickets of medicinal molds are explored. Hundreds of delightfully diverse students participate in this class every year, and they also get a chance to meet and eat some of the subjects studied in demonstration labs. For a pinch of extra credit, some seize the opportunity to make fungus-inspired art. A display of this ear's crop of creative and exuberant work is viewable at Mann Library through August. Come by and take a look to catch some of that infectious fungus fever!
