About this Event

#ChatsInTheStacksIn recent years, increasing interest in small-scale farming in suburban, peri-urban, rural and even urban areas of the U.S. has fueled growing demand for veterinary care. The book Practical Guide to Adding Livestock to Your Veterinary Practice (Wiley, 2026) offers veterinarians an accessible starting point to meet this need. Co-authored by veterinarian Michelle Buckley—an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Medicine at Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine—the book contains essential information on physiology, management, handling, and regulatory compliance across cattle, pigs, small ruminants, and camelids, designed for readers who are less familiar with livestock medicine.
In her book talk, Buckley will demystify livestock medicine and highlight the foundational knowledge needed for making important changes in current veterinary clinical and business practice. This talk will be useful for veterinarians and students of animal and veterinary science, as well as those interested in livestock and public health, especially in light of emerging developments in local food systems.
Hosted by the Science and Agriculture Libraries of Cornell University Library, this talk is part of Cornell University Library's "Chats in the Stacks" series that's free and open to the public. This book talk will also be livestreamed, with pre-registration at https://cornell.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_9Xdk4UzKQ8mCu4Yn3wn5Pw.
