Audism: The Stigmatization of Deaf People

Dr. Hauser is the Director of the Research Center on Culture and Language (CCL) at the National Tech-nical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. CCL’s research mission is to understand the roles of cultural and linguistic diversity in deaf people’s lives. In addition to NIH and NSF research grants, CCL has science mentorship grants, from these agencies, to broaden the participation of deaf individuals in the sciences. Hauser is a former recipi-ent of RIT’s Eisenhart Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Isaac L. Jordan, Sr. Pluralism Award for promoting Diversity and Inclusion.
