Master Gardener Volunteer Opportunities

Read below for some opportunities to assist at the fair.  Volunteers can register for more than one slot.

CCE Nassau Table in the Exhibition Hall:

MGVs have been granted table space in the Exhibition Hall of the fairgrounds, next to the Flower Show. We are looking for Master Gardeners to sit and the table and speak with visitors about CCE Nassau and the Master Gardener Volunteer program. Being next to the Flower Show, we would also help direct Long Islanders to where they can find horticultural information, and how they can grow their own beautiful flowers at home! This is a great opportunity for any Master Gardener to volunteer, and particularly for those who enjoy engaging with the public. All materials (table, chairs, resources) will be set up and provided for you. Volunteers at the table will be inside the air conditioned building at the table.

4-H Program Assistants:

Help assist the 4-H team in engaging youth visitors in gardening activities at the fair! This is an excellent opportunity for those that enjoy working with youth, and would prefer to be a bit more hands-on. Volunteers assisting with youth programming will be in the 4-H Building on the far side of the fairgrounds. CCE Nassau staff will be there with supplies and direction at all times.

All volunteers will be able to get into the fair free of charge. When not at your “post,” volunteers are welcome to wander around and enjoy the festivities! You will receive an email from Jennifer prior to the event, with more information about parking and need-to-knows.
