What can we expect for the future of video games - especially with developments such as AI, an exponential growth in audience base, and industry regulatory concerns? Alejandro Marin Vidal, ’06 alum, will discuss his academic and creative path at Cornell, his experience as director of strategy for one of the largest video game companies in the world, and thoughts for what lies ahead for this tumultuous industry.

Alejandro Marin Vidal CU'06 (BS, Film Studies) is the former Director of Strategy and Business Intelligence at Activision Blizzard where he was the founder and co-chair of the Latinx @ Activision diversity network. Marin Vidal is a self-proclaimed “lifelong gamer,” who came to Cornell to study Computer Science and left with a degree in film studies. He went on to pursue a graduate degree from the HEC Paris Business School and also received his PhD in consumer behavior and management science. Marin Vidal lives in Los Angeles, California.

Moderated by Andrew Campana (Asian Studies), scholar of modern and contemporary Japanese literature and media. Campana is currently working on a new project on alternative conceptions of digitality in video games, poetry, and disability arts in contemporary Japan.
